It can be so hard to walk into a counselling room, to start exploring the parts of ourselves that we’ve hidden or shied away from, to open those boxes we’ve kept closed and locked, but together we can do it, at your pace, in the way that works for you.
It’s ok to be worried, scared or unsure, you’re not alone. I am Laura Wright, a BACP registered trauma informed humanistic counsellor BACP registered trauma informed humanistic counsellor with experience in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, dissociative disorders, PTSD, domestic violence and abuse, childhood sexual abuse and the distress of overwhelming life changes, and together we can find ways to manage symptoms, reconnect disassociated emotions and explore life events, work through fear, shame, anger and blame and help you to find acceptance in yourself.
I have experience working with adults, young people and children, humanistically with elements of creativity in a trauma informed way.
Working humanistically means that I understand that you are the expert on your life, I’m not here to judge you or diagnose you, instead I will walk with you, stand with you, and hear you.
Dependant on what you want and need, I may use techniques from various theories to support our work together, including working with grounding and stabilisation techniques to ensure that you feel safe during deeper work, looking at how your experiences impact your day-to-day life, considering your inner child and their voice, looking at the cycles you follow and how they can be broken, any many others, all whilst working with you reflectively and empathically at your pace. where I understand that you are the expert on your life, I’m not here to judge you, not to advise you and not to diagnose you, instead I will walk with you, stand with you, and hear you.

I have experience working across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with a range of ages, diversity and reasons for attending counselling including PTSD, C-PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Low Self-Esteem, Dissociative Disorders, Loneliness, Anger management and Trauma.
